Mission Statement
The OU-COM Emergency Medicine Residency Programs Advisory Committee (EMRPAC) is a statewide alliance of University-affiliated, community based emergency medicine specialists, program directors, educators and administrators dedicated to the training of osteopathic emergency medicine physicians. We collaborate to preserve and protect the integrity and identity of osteopathic emergency medicine residencies. We maintain standards of excellence, develop educational strategies, share resources, promote quality, and provide systems of education that emphasize a patient-centered approach. We do so by recognizing the need to sustain appropriate lifestyles for our residents.
The purpose of the Emergency Medicine Residency Programs Advisory Committee is to plan, organize, implement, and standardize programs which meet and exceed the standards of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) and the requirements of the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). The EMRPAC accomplishes its purpose and goals through a residency consortium involving collaboration, innovation, evaluation, total quality management and affiliation with Ohio University. The philosophy governing the Emergency Medicine Residency Programs Advisory Committee embodies the pursuit of excellence, commitment of faculty to education, respect for residents and colleagues, the importance of mentors and role models and the conviction that superior educational programs are developed and maintained only through sustained effort by all involved parties.
Our CORE values include commitments to:
We are accountable to our patients, hospitals, Ohio University and its College of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, students, interns, colleagues, and the general public in the State of Ohio. We preserve and strengthen osteopathic emergency medicine residences by providing excellence in patient care, education, faculty development, and research, while encouraging loyalty and advocacy for osteopathic ideals.
