Residents & Interns

As a resident or intern researcher in the CORE system, you will need to register in the CORE Research Database so that we can properly track your project and adequately assist you in your research. Also, you will need to complete an IRB training course before you can engage in research that entails data collection. The Step-By-Step Checklist will lead you through these initial steps of the research process, the critical protocol development stage of your study, and on through to research dissemination.

If you do not yet have a fully developed research idea, Generating Research Ideas can help to focus your thoughts and can suggest avenues to help better define and refine those thoughts into a concise research question.

As a resident or intern pursuing your GME training in a specific residency training program, you have specific research requirements that must be fulfilled before the completion of your residency; in some cases, you will have very specific benchmarks to reach at the end of each year of your training. Research Requirements provides direct links to the documents that explain the research requirements for each specialty in the CORE.

Finally, the Institutional Review Board of your CORE hospital will stand as your IRB of record; IRB Requirements will provide valuable information about how to navigate this crucial step in the research process.

As always, the CRO Staff stands ready to assist you at all points along the research continuum.
